Concept
Plató Café was far more than a mere business venture; it embodied the culmination of my creativity and passion. Drawing from my background in drama school, I envisioned a cafe experience that would transport customers into the enchanting ambience of a movie set, allowing them to feel like stars themselves. This concept was meticulously brought to life through bespoke design elements such as custom-made focal lights, director chairs, clapperboards, vintage movie cameras, film reels, filmstrip rolls, and vinyl showcasing drawings of a movie set, all set against an open-ceiling backdrop exuding an industrial vibe. My overarching goal was to craft an unforgettable environment that would leave an indelible mark on every patron.
Driven by a fervent commitment to excellence, I embarked on a journey marked by meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to customer service. I collaborated closely with builders and graphic designers, overseeing every aspect of construction and design implementation. Despite lacking a technical drawing background back then, I relied on rough sketches and clear communication to articulate my vision, a process that not only fueled my creativity but also ignited a newfound passion for commercial interior design.
Each day was an immersion into the project, a labour of love where I poured my heart and soul into every detail. Plató Cafe became a metaphorical child, nurtured and raised with pride, serving as a testament to my ability to design, manage and operate a cafe independently. The priceless insights acquired through this venture will undoubtedly influence my future professional pursuits, highlighting the profound impact of dedication and commitment to achieving greatness.
